Sabine Lichtenfels - Spiritual Work

To all Peaceworkers,

We greet our friends in Colombia, in Israel/Palestine, in Brazil, India, Tibet, the United States of America and in Europe. We greet all those who wish to get out of the system of violence. On Friday, we received the following news from Daoud Nasser, from the "Tent of Nations" in Palestine:

"Today at 2.00 pm two officials from the Israeli administration, accompanied by two Israeli soldiers, came to our farm to hand over orders of demolition for (...) tents, roofing for animals, front buildings made of sheet metal attached to our old houses, the toilets, a water cistern and two underground renovated cave structures. One of the officials wrote out the orders, the other one took photographs of everything while the soldiers followed them everywhere their guns continually pointed at us.(...)

We now have three days to react to these orders. The timing makes it extremely difficult for us to legally stop the orders, since during two of the days fall on the weekend in Israel. We called our lawyer and hope that we can delay the demolition. We ask everyone to be prepared for possible actions should the legal way not help. We will inform you. Please pass this mail on to your friends. (....) We shall overcome the evil with the good and justice will prevail."

The Tent of Nations is located in the Westbank, near Bethlehem, and it is a meeting point for peace. In 2007 it was a stopping point for the Grace Pilgrimage for some days and in 2008 a Global Campus also happened there. Daoud and his family are fighting for legal acknowledgment of their land for decades, for this land is their property since long before Israeli occupation. Although Israeli settlements are being build all around them, the Palestinians did not even receive a building permit for a cistern.

This is not the only news that could leave us perplexed.

Everywhere the conflicts grow more acute and confront us with the challenging question: What is the meaning of peace work? Despite all our sympathies, how do we manage not to go from shock to shock but rather keep our hearts open and strengthen our power of belief so that healing is possible? In front of such a background I wish to send the following text as a text for study into the world. I wish to thank all of you who actively participate and no longer remain silent. Thanks to all who unite worldwide in the name of a new solidarity and sympathy. We remain faithful to the subject and we research and observe it as being part of us and of the world. It is a daily challenge, independently of where we live, of which religion we adhere to or which political party we follow. Global healing takes place beyond these.

THE BASIC RELIGIOUS REALITY

The points listed above taken together form what I want to call the “basic religious reality”. Today this is not only a religious manifesto, but also the manifesto of an enlightened holistic science. This great process of transformation in which the earth finds itself is simultaneously individual and supra-individual. It also functions when you feel farthest from it as it is unavoidable. The gospel is unavoidable, you are in real transformation. Recognize the basic religious reality and simply model your life around it. Bring it into the light of day, out of the shadows, manifest it through your actions.
