To all Peaceworkers,
Presently we address the last of the three topics that distinguished our pilgrimage, i.e.: How will our future look like? What are the preconditions giving us reason to believe that a different future is possible? If you lay down your head in a different place each night, not knowing whether rain or even a storm might sweep across the land, then recent and current environmental distastres that plague the globe come closer to you. We ourselves, or our children could be among the victims. What gives us the hope that in the near future there will be less pain, less vicitims and less perpetration in the world? What provides us with an understanding for the correlations between our own inner processes and the present occurances on the globe?
At Sines, a small Alentejo seeside town, where one of the largest commercial ports is planned to be built, we experienced both the signs of rise and fall.Two representatives of the environmental organisation QUERUS talked about the difficult situation of the environmental movement in the country of Portugal and how difficult it is to promote a veritable environmental movement at this point in time.
However, we also discovered the seeds for new hope in many places. Not least, at the Castelho of Sines, during the well frequented Children¨s Theatre where our pilgrim group of children performed their play "The Black Shadow and the Riddle of the Princess" in Portuguese language, followed by a concert of a befriended band, The event was frequented by many young people. We witnessed how the next generation picks up with great vigour what they have learned from their courageous predecessors.There is no reason to subjugate to situations we do not want; there is no reason to support politics that thrive on war because this boosts the economy, but there is plenty of reason for following hope, love and longing. A different life is possible, a life where with clear decision and great determination we step out of all systems of violence. This decision will jointly carry us to new shores.

What to do in a difficult situation?
Do not identify.
Life always has an answer ready for you.
But the answer can only reach you if you have learned to remain in a non-identified state, even in difficult situations.
That is the greates art that needs to be learned.
There is a deeper meaning behind everything that you experience.
Your illness is also an attempt to achieve a reconnection with the whole. It is an indication that your mental and spiritual awareness now needs to focus on areas that you normally do not focus on.
The lack of connection almost always comes from false attachment. You are attached to thoughts, ideas or situations that cannot guide your mind and your spirit toward freedom.
The first step is: Become a witness!
